Conduct of Conduct

Anime Tyler 2027 Code of Conduct

Welcome to Anime Tyler!

Anime Tyler is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable experience for all attendees, guests, exhibitors, artists, volunteers, and staff.

By attending Anime Tyler, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Failure to comply may result in removal from the event without refund, revocation of your badge, prohibition from future Anime Tyler events, and/or referral to local law enforcement when appropriate.

Please Look Out for One Another

Anime Tyler is more than an event—it's a community.

We encourage everyone to:

  • Treat others with kindness and respect.

  • Offer assistance when someone appears to need help.

  • Practice good personal hygiene by washing your hands regularly and maintaining appropriate cleanliness.

  • If you are 21 years of age or older and choose to consume alcohol, please do so responsibly.

  • Never leave the event with someone you do not know or trust.

  • Let your family or friends know where you are if you leave the convention area.

If You See Something, Say Something.

If you witness unsafe behavior, harassment, suspicious activity, or someone needing assistance, immediately notify an Anime Tyler Staff Member, Troubleshooter, or Law Enforcement Officer.

We would much rather investigate something that turns out to be nothing than miss an opportunity to help someone.

Service Animals

Anime Tyler welcomes ADA-recognized service animals.

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a service animal is generally defined as a dog that has been individually trained to perform specific work or tasks for a person with a disability.

In limited circumstances, trained miniature horses may also qualify where required by applicable law.

Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort, companionship, emotional support, therapy, or crime deterrence are not considered service animals under the ADA.

Questions Staff May Ask

When it is not readily apparent that an animal is a service animal, Anime Tyler Staff or Troubleshooters may ask only the following two questions:

  1. Is the animal required because of a disability?

  2. What work or task has the animal been trained to perform?

Anime Tyler Staff will not:

  • Ask about the nature of a person's disability.

  • Request medical documentation.

  • Require certification or identification for the animal.

  • Request proof of training.

  • Ask the animal to demonstrate its trained task.

Animals Permitted Inside Event Spaces

Only ADA-recognized service animals are permitted inside Anime Tyler event spaces.

The following animals are not permitted inside convention areas:

  • Household pets

  • Emotional Support Animals (ESAs)

  • Therapy animals

  • Comfort animals

  • Companion animals

  • Exotic animals

These restrictions apply regardless of registration or certification from online organizations.

Owner Responsibilities

Handlers are responsible for ensuring their service animal:

  • Remains under control at all times.

  • Is harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless these devices interfere with the animal's work or the individual's disability prevents their use.

  • Is housebroken.

  • Does not threaten or endanger other attendees.

  • Does not interfere with convention operations.

Handlers remain responsible for cleaning up after their service animal.

Removal of an Animal

Anime Tyler reserves the right to require removal of any animal from convention spaces if the animal:

  • Displays aggressive behavior.

  • Bites or attempts to bite.

  • Growls, lunges, or threatens others.

  • Continuously barks or creates excessive noise.

  • Is not under the handler's control.

  • Is not housebroken.

  • Creates a health or safety concern.

  • Significantly disrupts convention activities.

If a service animal must be removed, the individual with the disability may return to the event without the animal when appropriate.

Pet Areas

Pets that are not service animals should remain inside guest rooms or designated hotel pet relief areas and may not be brought into Anime Tyler event spaces.

Please follow all Holiday Inn Tyler pet policies while on hotel property.

Misrepresentation

Knowingly misrepresenting a pet as a service animal may violate Texas law and Anime Tyler policies.

Individuals found intentionally misrepresenting an animal as a service animal may be removed from the event without refund and may be prohibited from attending future Anime Tyler events.

Policy Updates

Anime Tyler, LLC reserves the right to modify, amend, interpret, or update this Animal Policy at any time without prior notice.

Prop Check Guidelines

Anime Tyler 2027 Weapons & Prop Policy

Anime Tyler welcomes cosplay and creative prop making. Our goal is to provide a fun, immersive, and safe environment for all attendees while complying with venue requirements and applicable laws.

All costume weapons and props are subject to inspection by Anime Tyler Staff and Weapons Check.

Anime Tyler reserves the right to deny, approve, restrict, or revoke approval of any prop or costume weapon at its sole discretion.

Weapons Check

All costume weapons and qualifying props must be presented at the designated Weapons Check station immediately after registration and before entering any convention event space.

Approved props will receive an official Anime Tyler Weapons Check tag or other approved identifier.

Weapons Check approval is valid only while the approval tag remains attached and unaltered.

Anime Tyler Staff or Troubleshooters may request to inspect any prop at any time during the event.

General Rules

All props must be:

  • Carried responsibly at all times.
  • Under the owner's control.
  • Used only as costume accessories.
  • Handled in a manner that does not endanger others or damage property.

Horseplay, mock combat, swinging weapons, throwing props, brandishing, or intentionally intimidating others with a prop is strictly prohibited.

Any prop used in an unsafe manner may be confiscated or removed from the event.

Oversized Props

Large props are permitted only if they can be safely transported throughout convention spaces.

Anime Tyler may require oversized props to be modified, stored, or removed if they:

  • Block walkways.
  • Interfere with emergency exits.
  • Create safety hazards.
  • Damage hotel or convention property.
  • Cannot safely fit through doors or hallways.

Panel staff may also prohibit oversized props inside programming rooms if space is limited.

Anime Tyler strongly recommends that oversized costumes or props have a handler to assist with navigation.

Firearms

The following are NOT PERMITTED inside Anime Tyler event spaces:

  • Real firearms.
  • Loaded firearms.
  • Unloaded firearms.
  • Privately manufactured firearms.
  • BB guns.
  • Pellet guns.
  • Paintball guns.
  • Airsoft guns capable of firing.
  • Any functioning projectile weapon.

This prohibition applies regardless of whether the individual possesses a concealed carry license or is otherwise legally permitted to carry a firearm.

Law enforcement officers acting in their official capacity are exempt.

Airsoft, Nerf & Replica Firearms

Replica firearms may be permitted only if approved by Weapons Check.

Requirements include:

  • The prop must be permanently incapable of firing any projectile.
  • Orange or brightly colored safety tips must remain visible and may not be removed or covered.
  • CO₂ cartridges, batteries, magazines, darts, BBs, paintballs, ammunition, or other projectiles may not be installed while inside event spaces.

Anime Tyler reserves the right to deny any replica firearm that could reasonably be mistaken for a real weapon.

Bladed & Metal Weapons

Anime Tyler recognizes that many cosplay props incorporate metal components or realistic weapon designs. For the safety of all attendees, all bladed or metal weapons and props must be presented to Weapons Check for inspection.

Weapons Check and designated Troubleshooters will evaluate each item individually to determine whether it may be carried within Anime Tyler event spaces.

During inspection, staff may consider factors including, but not limited to:

  • Whether the blade has a sharpened edge or point.
  • The material and overall construction.
  • The size and weight of the item.
  • The ability of the item to cause injury.
  • How the item is secured or sheathed.
  • The intended use as part of a costume or display.
  • Overall public safety and venue requirements.

Approval is granted solely at the discretion of Anime Tyler.

If an item is approved, it must remain in the same condition in which it was inspected and display its official Weapons Check approval tag at all times.

If an item is not approved, it may not be carried inside Anime Tyler event spaces. The owner must immediately return the item to their personal vehicle, hotel room, or other lawful off-site storage location for the remainder of the convention. Anime Tyler does not provide weapon storage or item check services.

Attempting to bypass Weapons Check, removing or altering an approval tag, or carrying a weapon or prop after it has been denied approval may result in badge revocation, removal from the event without refund, and possible prohibition from future Anime Tyler events.

The decision of Weapons Check and designated Troubleshooters is final.

Bows & Projectile Weapons

Bows, crossbows, slingshots, and similar props may be permitted only if:

  • They cannot be drawn or fired.
  • No arrows, bolts, or projectiles are carried in a usable condition.

Functional projectile weapons are prohibited.

Prohibited Weapons & Props

Dress Policy

Anime Tyler 2027 Cosplay & Dress Code Policy

Anime Tyler is a family-friendly convention that welcomes attendees of all ages. We celebrate creativity, craftsmanship, and self-expression through cosplay while maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone.

All attendees, regardless of whether they are in costume, are expected to comply with this Dress Code Policy.

General Dress Code

Attendees must wear clothing or costumes that provide appropriate coverage at all times.

The following guidelines apply throughout the convention:

  • Private and intimate areas must remain fully covered.

  • Clothing or costumes may not be transparent or see-through in areas requiring coverage.

  • Costumes designed to simulate complete nudity or create the appearance of exposed intimate areas are prohibited.

  • Footwear is required at all times unless specifically approved for accessibility or medical reasons.

  • Clothing must comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.

Anime Tyler reserves the right to determine whether attire is appropriate for a family-friendly convention.

Costumes & Cosplay

Cosplay is encouraged and welcomed from all fandoms, including anime, manga, comics, video games, television, film, and original character creations.

Costumes must not:

  • Create a safety hazard.

  • Obstruct emergency exits or walkways.

  • Damage convention or hotel property.

  • Interfere with the enjoyment or safety of other attendees.

All costume weapons and props must comply with the Anime Tyler Weapons & Prop Policy.

Swimwear & Revealing Costumes

Swimsuit-style, beachwear, athletic, or similarly revealing costumes are permitted only if they provide adequate coverage appropriate for a family-friendly event.

Anime Tyler reserves the right to require additional coverage if a costume is determined to be excessively revealing.

Body paint, liquid latex, adhesive coverings, or similar materials do not constitute acceptable clothing by themselves and must be accompanied by garments that provide appropriate coverage.

Offensive Content

Clothing, costumes, accessories, or body art displaying or promoting the following are prohibited:

  • Hate symbols.

  • Racist, discriminatory, or extremist imagery.

  • Obscene language.

  • Explicit sexual content.

  • Threatening or intimidating messages.

  • Content promoting illegal activity.

Anime Tyler reserves the right to prohibit attire that is disruptive or inconsistent with the convention's family-friendly environment.

Cosplay Is Not Consent

Wearing a costume does not grant permission for others to:

  • Touch you.

  • Touch your costume or props.

  • Photograph you in close proximity without permission.

  • Harass, intimidate, or make inappropriate comments.

Likewise, cosplayers are expected to respect the personal boundaries of others.

Always ask before taking close-up photographs or interacting with another attendee's costume or props.

Hotel & Public Spaces

Anime Tyler takes place within an operating hotel and conference center shared with hotel guests, families, employees, and members of the public.

Attendees are expected to remain appropriately dressed while traveling through all public areas of the property, including:

  • Hotel lobby

  • Hallways

  • Elevators

  • Restaurants

  • Parking areas

  • Outdoor spaces

  • Convention areas

Please remember that you represent both yourself and the Anime Tyler community.

  • Add additional coverage.

  • Modify the costume.

  • Change into appropriate clothing.

  • Remove prohibited accessories or costume elements.

Failure to comply may result in:

  • Removal from convention activities.

  • Badge revocation.

  • Removal from the event without refund.
